Sep. 19th, 2015 07:37 pmWhen Bryan had opted to stay behind that afternoon to catch up on some work, he'd made a point of not specifying exactly what kind. A lie or omission was better than a standard lie, he thought. He hadn't touched his laptop since David and Sawyer left, instead taking the rare opportunity of having the apartment to himself to transform their living room well beyond recognition.
Bryan will never completely understand David's affinity for camping, nature, sleeping and doing other unmentionable things outdoors like some kind of fur-bearing creature, but there are plenty of things about him that David doesn't understand, either. Still, he can appreciate that he appreciates that sort of thing, even if it doesn't necessarily appeal to him. And he can certainly put his own spin on just about anything to bring it closer to his own aesthetic.
The living room might not look like any camp sight David's ever been to - it's indoors, for one - but the basic elements are there. In place of a tent there's a canopied fort of sheets and drapes, floor lined with comforters and pillows. The shelves, mantle and coffee table all dressed to match the theme with pine cones, foliage and even a makeshift fire pit. Dozens of candles and fairy lights are the finishing touch and douse the room in a warm glow when he finally shuts the lights off and returns to prepping dinner.
With Sawyer, date nights aren't really something they've done all that often. They aren't impossible, obviously, they just take a bit more creativity than before, and Bryan is definitely one who's up for that challenge.
